We are always dedicated to developing
new technologies, devices and methods.
Since the establishment of Fujita Health University, our ophthalmology department has always been passionate about developing and introducing new treatments. Recently, a brand- new surgical microscope named OFFISS (Optical Fiber Free Intravitreal Surgery System) was developed. This allows for a clearer and complete intraocular observation, ensuring safer operation, and has become a new standard in vitreoretinal surgery. In addition, a new tissue staining method was developed by professor Masayuki Horiguchi, and it greatly improved the visualization of transparent membranes in eyes, also allowing for safer operation. Lastly, we have also developed trans-Tenon’s capsule retrobulbar anesthesia, which is almost painless compared to conventional methods. These original treatments have helped hundreds of patients, which is why we always rank in top for number of vitreoretinal surgeries performed.
